Since the start of the year, I’ve shared some thoughts about Jesus as our Dayspring.  In Luke 1:78, Zacharias called Jesus the “Dayspring from on high” and prophesied that He would be a type of sunrise that would bring light to the darkness.

A sunrise depicts several aspects of the nature of Jesus.  For one, He breaks the darkness with light.  Secondly, He brings a new day, making all things new.  And furthermore, a sunrise also depicts the consistent nature of Christ.

Think about it: no matter the events that happen around the world, they never affect the sunrise.  There may be social unrest, political maneuvering, or natural disasters, but none of those will stop the sun from rising the next day.  Regardless of the circumstances, you can always count on the sunrise!

Now, think of the consistent nature of Jesus.  He is the ultimate example of steadfastness. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).  Whatever you may be facing today, know that God will not fail you now!  Think of all the times He’s shown His goodness to you.  Surely, He will do it again!

Yes, “His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23).  When you see the sun rise each morning, let that be a reminder of God’s faithfulness to you and your loved ones.  “Surely, goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,” (Psalm 23:6) and that means they’ll follow me TODAY! The Lord does not change, so let’s live in His goodness and mercy today!
