Nehemiah was a man who followed God faithfully.  He felt the call of God to rebuild the damaged walls of Jerusalem, and when he followed God in obedience, he found that certain results followed him.  Those same results will follow us when we follow God too.  Yesterday, I wrote how we find the favor of God, and today I’d like to share another result of following God.

Rebuilding the walls around the entire city of Jerusalem was no small task!  When Nehemiah surveyed the condition of the walls, he knew he would need A LOT of help from others.  So, he gathered together the city officials, the Jews, the priests, and the nobles and presented this plea: “You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire.  Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach” (Neh. 2:17, NKJV).  When the people heard his vision, they responded enthusiastically by declaring, “Let us rise up and build” (v. 18).  They committed to the work and stuck with Nehemiah until the task was finished.

This account reminds us that when God calls us to accomplish a task, He also calls others to help us.  If God has placed a desire in your heart that is too big for you to complete alone, believe that God will place a desire in the right people to assist you in that work.  You don’t have to depend on some natural talent to persuade people.  You just need the blessing of God that comes from obeying Him.  Follow God and see Him provide supernatural support.
