“A word fitly spoken and in due season is like apples of gold in settings of silver” (Proverbs 25:11, AMP). Never underestimate the impact that an encouraging word can have on someone else. I recently heard of a young man who admitted that he would have committed suicide had it not been for a brief positive comment someone made to him earlier in the day. Indeed, “death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21, NKJV).
When you have a thought to encourage someone, be sure to act on it. Let people know you appreciate what they do. Let people know they are making a difference. If someone you know has experienced disappointment, share a word that will re-direct their focus. There may be someone else who is waiting to obey God, and your words could provide the little nudge they need to urge them forward. Your words are powerful, and they are needed! “Encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called ‘Today’ ” (Hebrews 3:13, NAS). So, think of someone you can encourage and share some uplifting words TODAY!
